JACKSON — Mississippi election commissioners on Wednesday removed all four Reform Party candidates from the November congressional ballot because of questions about the state party's leadership.

The candidates have until next Tuesday to appeal their removal. They are Barbara Dale Washer in the 1st District, Ashley Norwood in the 2nd, Tracella Lou O'Hara Hill in the 3rd and Anna Jewel Revies in the 4th.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says their qualifying papers were submitted by Thomas Randolph Huffmaster, who called himself chairman of the Reform Party of Mississippi.

Hosemann says his office has a sworn statement from the national Reform chairman that Huffmaster was not state chairman and didn't have the authority to submit candidates' names.

There is no ongoing leadership dispute. Ms. Washer was one of the defendants who lost a 2008 suit in Texas filed to settle a national leadership dispute. That court ordered a convention held in Dallas in 2008 and issued a final judgment in favor of the officers elected at that convention (see www.reformparty.org).

None of Mr. Huffmaster's group attended that convention. The RPMS Chairman at the time, Mr. Ted Weill, did, as did the current RPMS Chairman.

Afterward, Ms. Washer's group argued their case in NY Federal court. In late 2009, that court issued a summary judgment again in our favor.

Just prior to that judgment, the 2009 MS convention was called by then Chairman Weill and held as scheduled on November 21st. State officer elections were held, and Mr. Huffmaster was not elected to any position.

Be assured that the RPMS will have properly filed candidates in the 2012 election cycle.

Nunnelee afraid of a Reform party candidate? Really? Please! I doubt the 300 votes this candidate might have gotten would really effect the election very much.
