SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — A week after her husband was set on fire and died from burns, a DeSoto County woman has also died from her injuries sustained in a house fire that investigators say was arson.

The Commercial Appeal reports 55-year-old Brenda Ward has been at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis since she was found Aug. 14 burned and unconscious inside her home off of Miss. Highway 302.

DeSoto County Coroner Jeff Pounders said Ward was pronounced dead Monday at the hospital.

Sheriff Bill Rasco said last week the death of her husband, Alex Ward, was being investigated as a homicide after he was found dead in the bathtub of the couple's home.

Rasco would not say Monday if Brenda Ward was a suspect in her husband's death.
