Eric Hampton, the chairman of the Lee County Democratic Party, sent a letter to Scott on July 13 giving him until Friday to resign. The letter cites Scott for serving as "a poor role model for students, teachers and employees of the Lee County School system" and casting a "poor light and unfavorable character on all Democrats of Lee County."
Hampton met with the district's school board in executive session today.
Scott holds an elected position and ran as a Democrat. The Lee County Democratic Executive Committee certifies all candidates who run as Democrats in the county.
Scott was unavailable for immediate comment.

His personal life has everything to do with his job performance when he is having an affair with a subordinate in the Lee County School Central Office. This affair is affecting his ability to perform effectively in a leadership position.
Man up and resign already!
Stop this. Everybody who has half a brain knows what is going on here, and has picked sides--for whatever reason.
Stop it. You too, Daily Journal.
There are children who are involved here, and they didn't do a thing to be dragged through this.
Jamie, Eric, what you have done is shameful. It has almost ruined the Lee County Democratic Party and subjected yourselves and your friends to disrepute. And it is most of all unmanly.
For the good of the community. Stop. All of you.
Ben Logan

Having said that, when this situation first came to light in the spring, it was rumored that Scott needed to step down, and soon, or else. He has not, so I guess this is the next step. But that sure is going to open the door for the mud slinging.
To be clear, I think he should step down.
