Now, Republican Nunnelee brags he's raised more campaign money than Democrat Childers between May and July.
Wednesday, Nunnelee's campaign said it raised $312,000 from May through June. Childers posted $276,947 for the same period.
But Nunnelee's got a gap to close as Childers points to his campaign money in the bank – $903,469. Nunnelee reports $233,205 cash on hand.
Childers and Nunnelee face off on the Nov. 2 general election ballot with seven other independent and non-mainstream party nominees for the First District seat.
Thursday, they'll both file official campaign finance reports with the Federal Election Commission, which perhaps will provide a little more clarity.
More on this story in Thursday's NEMS Daily Journal newspaper.

Most of the Childer's money in the bank has come from out of state, a lot of SEIU and other big union money.
It is the reckless spending by Childers in Washington that will cause him to loose re-election. Childers cannot raise enough money to overcome his spending record.
I will be checking the federal commission site Thursday.
