So, I was just wondering who is to blame... The paper clearly said fireworks at 9:30 pm. Did the paper get it wrong or did the city just decide not to follow a schedule? I had to work tonight but plannned on meeting my family in the park by 9:30 in order to watch the fireworks with them. However, they had already started at least 20 if not 30 minutes early. I might have made it in time, but there was no way for me to enjoy the fireworks with my family this year the way this worked out. I suppose next year, we will plan on going out of town.

Independence???

How so?

Show me how we're "independent" of entangling alliances, the UN, the puzzle palace on the Potomac, etc., and I'll celebrate.

When I was 9 years old, we were hoeing out cotton, trying to "get laid by", and mother started to the house to fix dinner. Big Boy, my beloved feist, had chosen to recline in the shade of the '46 Chevy. When Mom engaged the clutch, we heard the surprised yelp. "The 4th" has always held the same attraction for me as any other sad day. I can understand the ambivalence of the residents of Vicksburg about this day.

In the mean time, I'll attend services at HPC, think about the sad state of republicanism on these shores (Note the lower case "r", you knee-jerk liberal cry-babies!), and get ready to go back to work.

After all, millions on welfare depend on the millions who work.
