COLUMBUS – House Bill 170 takes effect today to authorize county boards of supervisors to make regulations relating to adult entertainment businesses.

It doesn’t, however, directly affect The Pony, perhaps the region’s highest-profile strip club. It sits alongside Highway 45A in Lowndes County just north of the intersection with Highway 82.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Gary Chism of Columbus, would allow the Lowndes supervisors to make adjustments in the county’s adult-entertainment ordinances, if they thought they were needed.

However, Supervisors’ President Harry Sanders said recently that the board hasn’t heard any local complaints about the night club or any demands for changes there.

The club has been a source of public discussion since it erected a large, rearing silver stallion statue out front.

Chism said months ago that he’d received complaints from the public about the statue’s anatomical features, but said county boards didn’t feel they had any authority at that point to do anything about activities there.

That’s why he introduced the bill, he said.

Well I for one am sick and tired of all these squirrels traipsin' through my yard showin off their nuts.

I believe the state legislature should ban squirrel nudity once and for all.

The solution is simple: http://www.squirrelunderpants.com

Perhaps this company could become a government contractor?

I keep wondering...

Why all the free publicity for this joint? Who is the owner or operator, and what is his ties to north Mississippi's news media?

babydoll32ms- you forget, some people feel they must control every aspect of your life. Whether it affects them or not, if they don't like it, then everyone else MUST agree.

Better get those laws changed so we won't have to watch cattle and horses "makin' love" when I drive down the highway too. We must protect ourselves from sex!

Women want to strip, men want to watch them. Get over it.
