JACKSON - Gov. Haley Barbour on Tuesday announced the retirement of two high-ranking Department of Public Safety officials.

In a news release, Barbour said Mississippi Highway Patrol Chief Col. Michael Berthay and Lt. Col. Stanley Sisk, director of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, had distinguished careers.

Berthay served as patrol chief and assistant commissioner of the public safety since 2006. Sisk has served as MBI director since 2009. Sisk began his career with the patrol in 1981 as a certified crime scene analyst.
