FULTON

ICC sets registration for second term

- Itawamba Community College has scheduled registration for day classes for the second summer term. It will be held on July 1 from 10 a.m. until noon on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses.

Those attending the Fulton campus should register in the administration building; those who plan to take classes on the Tupelo campus should do so at the Student Services Building.

Classes begin July 6.

Todd named ICC alumni director

- Mark Todd of Phil Campbell, Ala., has joined the Itawamba Community College staff as the director of alumni affairs.

A graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1977 and IJC in 1979, Todd earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi. He has worked for more than 25 years in the apparel manufacturing industry with his last three years in Reynosa, Mexico. He came to ICC in August 2009 as the case manager at the Monroe County WIN Job Center.

NETTLETON

Schlict named Gregory Pitts scholar

- Holly Schlict has received the $1,000 Gregory Pitts Memorial Scholarship. Administered through the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi, the scholarship is awarded annually to a Nettleton High School student pursuing a health care career.

Applicants are judged on ACT score, high school transcript, curriculum taken as it pertains to the chosen field, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, interview and personal statements.

MOOREVILLE

Mooreville Middle School wins stock market game

- Students from Mooreville Middle School were recently honored for placing first in the middle school division in a stock market contest at Millsaps College. The competition measured financial and economic literacy and featured nearly 200 students from throughout the state.

The Mooreville Middle School students grew their $100,000 original portfolio to $113,332.28 in 10 weeks of trading. The students included Clay Sudduth, Robert Jones, Spencer Hanskiewicz and Will Pate. Their teacher is Stephanie Dutcher.

Also, Will was named a Merrill Lynch Mississippi Young Entrepreneur after being nominated by Dutcher.

Will was featured in a video presented at a recent program at Millsaps College about what he learned in the Stock Market Game, and he won $200 from the Mississippi Council on Economic Education.

BLUE MOUNTAIN

BMC names new development officer

- Jill Waycaster West was named the new development officer at Blue Mountain College.

West, a cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, will be responsible for raising funds and working with alumni and friends of Blue Mountain College throughout the community and region.

Prior to joining the BMC staff, West served two years as director of children’s ministries at Broadway Baptist Church in Southaven and before that was the regional development officer for the University of Mississippi for two years. A native of Tupelo, she is currently working toward her master’s degree in Christian studies at Union University.
