Two former Mississippi State pitchers and three future Bulldogs were taken on the final day of the Major League Draft on Wednesday.

Left-hander Tyler Whitney went to Seattle in the 34th round (1,032nd overall), while another lefty, Forrest Moore, was taken in the 38th round (1,157th) by Florida.

Whitney was 0-3 with a 6.66 ERA his senior year. Moore played for MSU from 2008-09, but he did not play this past season, although he did take classes at State.

Also drafted were MSU signees Taylor Stark (42nd round, Washington) Demarcus Henderson (Houston, 43rd round), Daryl Norris (46th round, Texas) and C.T. Bradford (48th round, Cleveland)

MSU coach John Cohen said he should know more on Friday which signees will come to school, including Corey Dickerson, who was drafted in the 26th round Tuesday by Colorado.

Ole Miss

A handful of Ole Miss players and signees were selected Wednesday on the third and final day of Major League Baseball's draft.

Junior pitcher David Goforth, the Rebels' No. 3 starter this season, was drafted by Cleveland with pick No. 930. Goforth finished 1-6 with a 9.43 earned run average. Goforth joins teammate Drew Pomeranz who was drafted fifth overall by the Indians.

Cleveland later selected signee Bobby Wahl, of Springfield, Va., with pick No. 1,170.

Junior outfielder Matt Smith was not drafted. He led the team in average (.348), hits, doubles, RBIs and tied for the team lead with 12 home runs.

Junior pitcher Matt Tracy, a left-hander, was taken with pick No. 1,307 by Florida.

Other noteworthy selections among the signees were outfielder Lee Smith with pick No. 823 to Detroit, catcher Will Allen with pick No. 1,107 to Pittsburgh and third-baseman Preston Overbey with pick No. 1,271 to Tampa Bay.
