JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Supreme Court has formally disbarred convicted former Hinds County Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter.

The Mississippi State Bar filed a petition against DeLaughter last November.

DeLaughter is serving an 18-month federal sentence after pleading guilty to obstruction of justice. He admitted lying to an FBI agent during a judicial corruption investigation.

DeLaughter resigned as a judge when he pleaded guilty in 2009.

The Supreme Court on Thursday in a three-page order granted the Bar's petition. DeLaughter did not oppose the petition.
