Three candidates have qualified to replace Circuit Judge Henry Lackey in the Nov. 2 judicial elections.

Meeting Friday’s 5 p.m. qualifying deadline were Tom Levidotis of Oxford, John A. Gregory of Okolona and Dave Rozier of Oxford.

Lackey, whose help was critical in helping prosecutors in the Scruggs judicial bribery case, is not seeking re-election.

Overall, Northeast Mississippi will have five contested judicial races in November – four in circuit court and one on the appeals court.

As of Friday’s deadline, these candidates had filed the necessary paperwork with the secretary of state’s office to be on the non-party ballot:

CHANCERY JUDGE

DISTRICT 1 – Alcorn, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tishomingo, Union counties. Four judges, each elected districtwide for a “Place.”

Place 1 (must live in Alcorn, Prentiss or Tishomingo): John A. Hatcher, incumbent

Place 2 (from Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc or Union): Michael Malski, incumbent

Place 3 (from Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc or Union): Jacqueline Estes Mask, incumbent

Place 4 (from any county in the district): Talmadge D. Littlejohn, incumbent

DISTRICT 14 – Chickasaw, Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Webster, counties. Three judges, each elected only by the voters of subdistrict.

Subdistrict 1 (from Chickasaw, Webster and parts of Oktibbeha): Kenneth M. Burns, incumbent

Subdistrict 2 (from parts of Clay and Lowndes): Jim Davidson, incumbent

Subdistrict 3 (from Noxubee and parts of Clay, Lowndes and Oktibbeha): Dorothy W. Colom, incumbent

DISTRICT 18 – Benton, Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Tippah counties. Two judges, each elected districtwide from a “Place.” State law does not specify territory for each place.
