JACKSON — Federal and state emergency officials will begin surveying damage in the counties hit hardest by a weekend tornado that killed 10 people in Mississippi.

Mississippi emergency management spokesman Greg Flynn says a survey team from FEMA will join state officials Monday on a tour of the heaviest damaged areas.

Flynn says it is part of the process that could lead to a possible presidential disaster declaration. He says the FEMA crews will be in Warren, Yazoo, Holmes, Choctaw and Attala counties on Monday. He said they may visit other areas.
