ABERDEEN - Fraud charges have been dismissed against Thomas Wayne Cantrell of Amory.

Cantrell was indicted by the Monroe County Grand Jury on two counts of felonious home repair fraud.

The charges against Cantrell stem from an investigation launched through the office of Attorney General Jim Hood. Four different indictments were returned in Pontotoc County, Lee County and Monroe County.

According to Cantrell's attorney, Jim Waide, Cantrell pled not guilty to all charges and filed a motion for a speedy trial.

The charges in Lee and Pontotoc counties were dismissed due to lack of evidence of fraud. The Monroe County charges were dismissed April 14 at the request of the Attorney General's office.

Can Attorney General Jim Hood do anything right, or make a decision that makes since. His best friends, political supporters, and campaign contributors are in federal prison, he goes after the hospice house in Tupelo for god knows what reason, and he makes his office a political campaign headquarters with immaterial press releases to get exposure. Please tell me that someone is going to run against thus guy and send him to Aberdeen to put in for the job opening at the electric department.
