MATHISTON - Odell Burdine, 89, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Choctaw County.

Pauline McDaniel

FULTON - Ouida Pauline McDaniel, 68, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Arkansas to O.R. and Valeria Wally Barnes. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Elbert Ray Bennett and Bro. Johnny Sherrell officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Charles McDaniel of Fulton; four daughters, Debbie Barnett, Teresa Harmon (Neal) and Sandra Harper, all of Fulton, and Becky Smith (Larry) of Mantachie; three sons, Frankie McDaniel (Liz) of Nettleton, and Ricky McDaniel and Danny McDaniel, both of Fulton; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille West of Brewer, Patricia Williams (Doyle) of Wren and Peggy Sullivan (Jim) of Nettleton; six brothers, Harold Barnes (Helen), Quinton Barnes (Margaret), Horace Barnes (Nelda), Wayne Barnes, Randy Barnes (Connie), all of Nettleton, Hurshell Barnes (Betty) of Illinois.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Lynn McDaniel; a great-grandson, Peyton Taylor; her parents; and one brother, Charles Clifton Barnes.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Barnes, Darrell Barnes, Donald Denton, Matthew Smith, Glen Barnes and Shawn Denton.

Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to service time today.

Drexie Lyle

Paul Yarbrough

CORINTH - Paul Yarbrough, 93, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was born July 20, 1916. He was a retired salesman for Hardin's Bakery with over 25 years of service. He worked as the produce manager at Piggly Wiggly for 10 years after retiring from Hardin's. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1954.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Pastor Jim Hall officiating. Private family burial will be at New Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Richard Yarbrough and wife, Rita, of Huntsville, Ala.; one daughter, Susan Yarbrough Garrard and husband, Larry, of Alpharetta, Ga.; grandchildren, Dr. Kelly Rawlins and husband, Blake, Joe P. Yarbrough and wife, Christina, and Laura E. Yarbrough; stepgrandchildren, Greg Garrard, and Lori Garrard Tkaczuk and husband, Jamie; great-grandchildren, Ruthanne Yarbrough, Abbigail Yarbrough, Ryan Rawlins and Avery Rawlins; sisters-in-law, Frances Griffin Yarbrough of Tupelo, Sue Gregory of Tupelo, and Brenda Park and husband, William Thomas of Plantersville; a brother-in-law, Joe Fowler and wife, Mary Kathryn, of Plantersville; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Ruth Fowler Yarbrough; his father, Roland Yarbrough; his mother, Docia Crowson Yarbrough; two sisters, Lynette Atkins and Betty Sudduth; four brothers, Carroll Yarbrough, Quay Yarbrough, Wayne Yarbrough and David Boyd Yarbrough.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Genie Falkner

THAXTON - Eugenia "Genie" Russell Falkner, 78, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Oxford. She was a graduate of Thaxton High School and the University of Mississippi. She was a retired English teacher. She loved gardening, traveling and reading.

Service will be at 4 p.m. today at Bellevue Baptist Church with Rev. John Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Don Falkner; her three daughters, Susan Ward (Larry), Jane Yoe (Eddie) and Betsy Cary (John); her three sons, Paul Falkner (Marina), Pat Falkner (Carla) and Michael Falkner (Penny); her two brothers, Donald Russell (Ann) and Bobby Russell; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Russell and Lillian Cole Russell; her sister, Latona Russell; and her brother, Johnnie Russell.

Pallbearers will be Adam Yoe, Jesse Ford, Nick Ford, Ian Cary, Dima Falkner, Reid Russell and Clay Russell.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Bellevue Baptist Church.

Jewel O. Floyd

SALTILLO - Jewel O. Floyd, 92, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was known as "Mama Ninney." She was a homemaker and a member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Merle Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Coker of Tupelo and Barbara Bojorquez (Daniel) of Saltillo; one son, Michael Niblett of Saltillo; six grandchildren, Connie Coker (Rusty), Paula Davison (Ken), Paul "Bud" Coker Jr. (Kim), Pat Coker (Linda), Missie Allen and Amy Till; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Floyd; her parents, Wess and Ethel Miller Malone; three sisters, Sally Miller, Katherine Miller and Ellie Bishop; six brothers, Jim Malone, Pat Malone, Bob Malone, Woodrow "Red" Malone, Robert Malone and Austin Malone.

Pallbearers will be Michael Niblett, Pat Coker, Bud Coker, Paul Coker, Ken Davison, Tyler Coker and Christopher Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

TUPELO - Anna Catherine McCoy, 20, died suddenly Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Saltillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from noon until service time Monday. Holland Funeral Directors Tupelo Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Reta Weaver

WOODLAND - Reta Gillespie Weaver, 79, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. She was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Chickasaw County to David Alfonzo Gillespie and Margaret Bell Carter Gillespie. She was a retired employee of Seminole and a member of First Baptist Church of Woodland.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Houston Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Woodland.

Survivors include her five daughters, Diane (Gene) Griggs of Houston, Elizabeth (Gary) McSperitt of Elk City, Okla., Vickie (Butch) Arledge of Bruce, Barbara (John) Weaver of Woodland and Reta (Tim) Laney of Woodland; one son, Micheal Weaver of Woodland; her sister, Mary Evelyn Andrews of Houlka; her 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert Weaver, on April 9, 2000, and her two sons, Jimmy Carl Weaver and Bill Weaver.

Pallbearers are Gene Griggs Jr., Jason Arledge, Micheal Weaver, Clint Kilgore, Russell Kilgore and Jim Blissard. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Miller and David Ward.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Houston Funeral Home.

OXFORD - Sarah Payton, 76, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford.

Lura Marie Julius

BALDWYN - Lura Marie Durham Julius, 84, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at her residence after an extended illness. A native of Marietta, she was born June 19, 1925, to Sine and Nell Barnes Bailey. She was a longtime resident of Saltillo and for the last 15 years, she lived in Baldwyn. She worked for several area garment manufacturing companies as a seamstress. A devout Christian, she was a member of Lifeway Church in Guntown. Working in her flower garden and her yard were some of the things she loved.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. A eulogy will be given by Larry Dunaway. Burial will be in Kirkville Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Robert E. "Bob" Julius of Baldwyn; two daughters, Barbara Williams (Larry) of Baldwyn and Linda Durham of Pratts community; three sons, Dan Durham (Jennifer) of Tupelo, Fred Durham (Janis) of Mantachie and J.W. Durham (Edith) of Bradford, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Robin Julius of Racine, Wis.; one sister, Retha Stacy of Kirkville; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Mary Durham and Lura Christian; two sons, Pete Durham and Paul Jack Durham; one sister, Grace Holt; three brothers, Jewell Bailey, Joe Bailey and Floyd Bailey; and two half brothers, Quitman Bailey and James Bailey.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rick Durham, Russ Durham, Terry Durham, Michael Browning, Nelson Browning and Steve Wigginton.

Bud Brown will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will continue today at the Saltillo Funeral Home.

Mary Lou Dodson

SLAYDEN - Mary Lou Dodson, 85, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. She was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Moscow, Tenn. She was a grocery cashier. She was a member of Harmontown Baptist Church and a former longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow, Tenn.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Holly Springs Funeral Home with Dr. James Pinkerton officiating. Burial will be in Memory Hill Cemetery in Ellendale, Tenn.

Survivors include two sons, Joel Alvin Dodson of Federal Way, Wash., and David Lynn Dodson of Corinth; one daughter, Carolyn Pinkerton of Como; two brothers, James Bo McClure and Melton McClure, both of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Clara Shaw and Lois Anderson, both of Mt. Pleasant, and Marjorie Byrd of Lamar; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Alvin Dodson; and her parents, James McClure and Irene Bolden.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to service time Sunday.

Billy Wayne Coleman

CORINTH - Billy Wayne Coleman, 60, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Mason St. Luke Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mason St. Luke Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from noon to service time today.

Delmar Fortner

OXFORD - Delmar Lamar "Did" Fortner, 74, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his home. He was a carpenter by trade and a farmer. He was an all around good dad.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Springhill Methodist Church in east Lafayette County. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Fortner; and Jody, Sue James, Lisa Holly, Candy, Amda, Toria, Cynthia, James, Camren, William, Missty, Audom, Ricky, Kevon, Lynn, Betty and Jennefer.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Oxford.

Lynn Downs

BOONEVILLE - Janice Lynn Thompson Downs, 46, died suddenly Friday, April 16, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She received her B.S. degree in elementary education from Blue Mountain College, her Master's degree from the University of Mississippi, then her National Boards at the University of Mississippi. She had taught school at Hills Chapel before becoming disabled. She was a member of the Booneville Church of Christ. She loved flower gardening and camping.

Private funeral services will be held Sunday at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jim Estes officiating. Burial will be in Indian Springs Cemetery in Glen.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffery Downs; her parents, L.C. and Wynell Thompson of Booneville; her in-laws, Wayne and Azzlee Downs of Glen; her brother, Keith (Mitzi) Thompson of Booneville; her brother-in-law, Jimmy (Jennell) Downs of Saltillo; and two nephews, Kevin Thompson and Keenan Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

BELMONT - Ricky Holt, 53, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Belmont. He was born July 18, 1956, in Red Bay, Ala., to Thelton and Belvilee Timbs Holt. He was a machinist with Mueller Copper Tube in Fulton for 32 years. He was a member and deacon of Tishomingo Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tishomingo Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Crane officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Garden. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Lisa McAnally Holt of Belmont; two children, Andy Holt (Amanda) and Corie Holt and fiance, Marcus Robinson, all of Belmont; his father, Thelton Holt of Belmont; one brother, Doug Holt of Belmont; a sister-in-law, Sarah Pogue (Les) of Columbus; a brother-in-law, Mac McAnally of Nashville, Tenn.; and special children, Jolynne, Jesus, Noah and Heather.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Tishomingo Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Harris, Greg Stanphill, Ricky Mitchell, Tommy Mayhall, Phillip Jackson and Phillip Wigginton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Tishomingo Baptist Church.

James Davis

GUNTOWN - James Luther Davis, 67, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his home. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. An avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Bobby Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Kirkville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Davis of Guntown; two children, Jeff Davis and Allen Davis; four grandchildren, Molly Davis, James Brandon Davis, Austin Davis and Cassidy Davis; one great-grandchild, Kylie Pettigo; three brothers, Leroy Davis (Johnnie Ruth) of Saltillo, Charlie Davis of Belden and Johnny Davis (Debbie) of Saltillo; eight sisters, Lucille Lominick of Baldwyn, Marie Hill of Baldwyn, Louise Ramey of Fulton, Inez Campbell (Carl) of Belden, Flossie Joyner of Baldwyn, Ann Haydock of Hattiesburg, Donnie Santucci (Rick) of Pennsylvania and Debbie Hayes of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Della Adams Davis.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Greg Lominick, Bubba Ramey, Chad Hill, Ricky Campbell, Dustin and Steve Ramey.

Amye Lucas

FULTON - Amye Geneva Lucas, 90, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born July 27, 1919, in Tishomingo County to Marcus Lafayette and Delia Brakefield Young. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and a retired employee of Charm Step. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, and she cherished her family and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wallace Strawn officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Lebert Lucas (Glenda) of Fulton; two daughters, Olene Chumbley (Jack) of Tremont and Brenda Owen (Bobby) of Fulton; a daughter-in-law, Ella Lucas of Fulton; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Harris of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lucas; a son, Herbert Lucas; a sister, Vela Searcy; and three brothers, Basil, Tillman and Edsil Young.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time Sunday.
