OXFORD - Prosecutors want the jury to see the vehicle Calhoun countian Wendell G. Blount was driving when it struck a cyclist on the Natchez Trace in April 2009.

Ester Hagerman died from that collision, and Blount faces federal charges in her death.

Robert J. Mims, assistant U.S. attorney, filed the vehicle-viewing motion in U.S. District Court on Monday.

Blount is scheduled for trial April 19 before Judge W. Allen Pepper Jr. in Greenville.

He insists the government was wrong to accuse him of impairment in operating the vehicle while under the influence of morphine. At an earlier hearing, his physician said the level measured in Blount soon after the accident was well within his patient's tolerance because of treatment for long-standing drug use.
