The state average is $2.68, up 6 cents from last week, 16 cents from last month and 76 cents from last year, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge.

According to our NEMS Daily Journal survey of gas prices in Northeast Mississippi, the cheapest gas today is in Pontotoc and New Albany ($2.55 for a gallon of regular).

Booneville and Fulton also have lower prices in lots of cases. This week, a MGP.com member posted prices in Booneville. The town deserves some recognition for allowing lower prices on fuel. Tupelo could follow their lead.
