ABERDEEN - Patricia Ann Reese Howell unofficially beat out incumbent Michael Jackson for a seat on the Aberdeen School Board Saturday.

Howell received 473 votes to Jackson’s 247. Thirty-nine affidavit ballots will have to be certified by the circuit clerk on Monday.

Jackson was the president of the Aberdeen School Board the past two terms. He is a teacher in the Okolona School District.

Howell and her husband have three sons, two in the Aberdeen school system. Howell has been in the insurance business for 20 years and has been an agent with Farm Bureau in Aberdeen for 10 years.

The school board consists of three members appointed by the city and two members elected by residents. This was the only seat up for grabs on the board.
