DeLaughter, a former circuit judge, reported to prison Jan. 4 to serve an 18-month sentence for lying to the FBI in a judicial corruption investigation that also toppled former tort lawyer Richard "Dickie" Scruggs.
DeLaughter was suspended from the bench in March 2008 and resigned after be pleaded guilty.
The Supreme Court acted Thursday on a motion by the state judicial watchdog agency.
Prosecutors said Scruggs used DeLaughter's friend and former boss, ex-Hinds County District Attorney Ed Peters, to persuade the judge to rule in his favor in a civil case.
Scruggs allegedly offered DeLaughter a chance to be recommended for a federal judgeship by former Sen. Trent Lott, Scruggs' brother-in-law.
