BLUE MOUNTAIN – With five players scoring in double figures Thursday night, Blue Mountain College whipped Mid-Continent University, 86-57, and snapped a 3-game losing streak in the TranSouth Athletic Conference.

In the men’s game, the Cougars won their fifth in a row by knocking off the Toppers 95-63.

The Lady Toppers took their 35-29 halftime lead and went on several runs early in the second half to capture their 10th win of the season.

Anna Lisa Powell poured in 18 points to lead the Lady Toppers (10-19, 3-12 TSAC) was was joined in double digits by Jessi Hayles (16), Joy Pierce (13), Katelynn Wright (11) and Jordan McCormick (10).

Amanda Daugherty had 11 points and 19 rebounds for the Lady Cougars (3-24, 1-14), who dropped their eighth straight.

Joshua Woodley hit for 25 to lead Mid-Continent’s men (18-11, 11-4). Josh McCalmon had 13 points to lead the Toppers (1-30 , 1-14), who lost their seventh straight.

BMC closes out its regular season Saturday afternoon when it travels to Batesville, Ark., to take on Lyon College.
