TUPELO – The Historic Preservation Commission today tabled a request by Calvary Baptist Church to demolish the Spain House.

Commission members cited a lack of information in the application for a demolition permit submitted by the church.

The church bought the century-old home in 2006 and wants to tear it down.

Church members expressed disappointment in the delay, but the commission expects to take the matter up again when it meets next month.

Read more on this story in Friday's Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal.

As I've posted before, I'll take it if they'll pay to move it!! :)

I happen to agree with farmington. If they waant to preserve the house so badly, they should put up the money up to have it moved and preserved or restored and maintained where it is.

Othewise, the church owns the property and should be able to do with it what they want.

If the Historic groups loves it that much, then HELP the owners of the house.

Use all this time and effort and money into helping Calvary.

Help them PAY for renovating if it they want it so bad.

Help them MOVE the hose since the owner is GIVING IT AWAY FOR FREE to whomever wants it.

Instead of forcing them to keep it on their own land, pay $$$$$$ to fix it and then pay $$$$$$$ to maintain it and then stop them from using the land THEY BOUGHT.....

Help Historic Society......HELP the owners and stop being a burden to them.
