Volunteer fire departments awarded FEMA grants

Three area volunteer fire departments have been awarded Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to be used for vehicles such as fire trucks, pumpers or rescue vehicles, or training and equipment.

The grants are part of $1.66 million in Firefighters Grants awarded to 17 Mississippi departments, said U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran.

Departments receiving grants include Farmington Volunteer Fire Department, $175,750; Blackland Volunteer Fire Department, Booneville, $171,000; and Ingram Volunteer Fire Department, Baldwyn, $103,266.
