OMAHA, Neb. — A Mississippi teenager has been sentenced to 40 to 45 years in a Nebraska prison for his role in the death of his friend's father.

Ryan King was sentenced Tuesday in Douglas County District Court. He had pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy in the death of 45-year-old Brian Carson.

Prosecutors have said King of Byhalia, Miss., Colton Novoscone and Ryan Carson drove from Mississippi to Omaha to kill Brian Carson last April. King was 17 at the time.

Prosecutors say Ryan Carson beat his father to death in their family's west Omaha home. Brian Carson's body was later found in the trunk of an abandoned car.

Authorities believe an affair Brian Carson had with a woman his son had been dating played a role in the killing
