JACKSON — Mississippi Republicans say they have enough signatures to put a voter ID initiative on the November 2011 ballot.

State GOP Chairman Brad White told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the party will submit the certified names to the secretary of state's office on Thursday. That's the deadline for the party to end a one-year effort to get registered voters to sign petitions.

White said the party has roughly 120,000 signatures certified by local circuit clerks. That's more than the minimum 17,857 needed.

Voters would decide whether Mississippians would be required to show a driver's license or government-issued photo identification card before casting ballots.

Sandlot, the reason they haven't had to show a vaild ID is simple. It's the DEMOCRAT way. Acorn would not have been able to put Obama in office if they had to prove when they were.

I have an idea about the health care plan. Let ohhh about 12 million Illegals pay 90% tax and that would weed some of them out and cut health care costs since they are a big reason. Then use the money from the rest to foot the bill. Sounds like a great Idea. Like a rent to own plan. Much better than the stupid plan that has been proposed.

...or claim any kind of income tax credit based on a dependent without proof of dependency. A talk with folks who work for income tax preparation services is a real eye-opener.

"You can't claim this SS# as a dependent."

"Why?"

"That number has been claimed on another return."

"Oh, just a minute..." Retreats to outer office, places a call, and returns. Gives a different SS#.

Note to Congress: If you want my support for national health plan, create a flat-tax plan first. The current IRS system is a joke -- a disgraceful joke.

This is a no brainer...try writing a check at most retailers without showing ID....why in heck should a person be able to vote without proving who they are....
