Standing on the steps of the Lafayette County Courthouse in her native Oxford, McGlowan, the president of Political Strategies and Insights, said, “I’m a conservative. I’m pro-life, pro-gun and pro-small business.”
She said the primary against state Sen. Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo and former Eupora Mayor Henry Ross is an opportunity to promote “true transparency” about the issues. Noting that an emotionally charged primary hurt Republican chances in the 2008 general election, her sights are clearly trained on the Democratic incumbent now in the office.
“At the end of the day, we need to replace Travis Childers,” she said.
McGlowan will make similar formal announcements this week in several north Mississippi cities.
