At Vanderbilt, Commodores' center A.J. Ogilvy gave Vandy an offensive presence in the post with 16 points and seven rebounds. The home team survived a frantic MSU comeback to win 75-72. Jarvis Varnado had nine blocked shots in the game.
At Florida, Varnado blocked only one shot, and the Bulldogs were hurt by Gators center Vernon Macklin, who was 10-for-14 from the floor. Florida outscored MSU 34-26 in the paint.
Looking Ahead: In the first of three-straight home games, the Bulldogs take on Ole Miss Thursday night at 9 and Auburn Saturday night at 7.
Who's Hot: Varnado posted double-doubles in both games last week, getting 16 points and 13 rebounds in Nashville and 12 points and 14 rebounds in Gainesville.
Who's Not: Phil Turner had 11 points over the two games and was 3-for-14 from the floor in 53 minutes.
RPI Watch: The Bulldogs begin the week with an RPI of 70.
Bottom Line: With a weak RPI the Bulldogs need to start stringing together some wins. There's no better place to start than at home where they've yet to lose an SEC game.
