TUPELO – A long-anticipated public transportation study will start this month after city leaders approved a nearly $25,000 contract Tuesday.

Neel-Schaffer consulting firm will lead the study, which could take several months to complete. A kickoff session has been scheduled for Thursday at City Hall.

The study will examine Tupelo’s public transit needs, review its prior attempts at public transit, and look at how other similar-sized cities have successfully implemented a public transit system.

It will then offer three options for providing such services.

no money to start the service but plenty of money to study starting it...isnt it about time for a new railroad relocation survey?
