TUPELO – Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate, will be the keynote speaker Feb. 17 at a lunch for congressional candidate Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo.

The $125-per-person lunch will be at the BancorpSouth Conference Center at noon. Nunnelee, a state senator, last week officially announced his bid for the Republican nomination for the 1st Congressional District seat now held by Democratic incumbent Travis Childers.

Nunnelee will have competition in the primary from former Eupora Mayor Henry Ross, who will open his campaign today, and Angela

McGlowan of Oxford, a consultant and Fox News analyst, who will make her official announcement next week.

I hope the Republican candidates will not kill each other's chances by negative campaigning as happened in the last Republican primary for this seat. One of these three needs to be revealed as the best candidate to represent the people of this district and bring this representative seat back into the fold of true conservative people.
