STARKVILLE - A former Mississippi State University student has been ordered to serve 10 years in prison for attempting to strangle a female student at a dormitory in 2008.

Okitbbeha County Circuit Judge Jim Kitchens on Friday sentenced Christopher Elliott Floyd to 20 years in prison, but suspended 10 years. Kitchens also ordered that Floyd undergo counseling while incarcerated.

The Starkville Daily News reports Floyd pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge last year in the incident, during which prosecutors say he choked a female student to the point of unconsciousness in the lobby of a dormitory on campus.

The incident was caught on a surveillance video.

????? You have to be a pervert to strangle a female in a dorm lobby?

Could it not have been a boyfriend-girlfriend fight gone wrong? I doesn't really matter at this point, but sounds like somebody's jumping at conclusions.....unless the guy had his pants down while strangling.....

dawginheat What do you call it? I could think of a lot of names if you are into name calling, but I see as it takes a "perverted mind" to do somthing like this. What do you think?

Where does "pervert" come into play from this article?

You are so right. No one going to college and trying to better them selves should have to be looking over their shoulder all time and worry about a pervert that is also going to school but not there to learn. I'll bet the only thing that the "counseling" involves is someone paid to read to a group of half-asleep perverts. You are so right they need to include castration and in most cases public"hangings" in most crimes of today!

He should be castrated while he's there. This might stop future breeding of this kind.
