OXFORD - The winter storm that affected much of the south Thursday and Friday will delay the Ole Miss-Arkansas SEC basketball game that was scheduled for today.

The Southeastern Conference announced Friday afternoon that the game will now be played Sunday night at 6.

The game had been scheduled to be part of the SEC Network television package, but there will be no live TV for the game.

"Saturday's Arkansas-Ole Miss men's basketball game has been rescheduled due to inclement weather," SEC officials said in a news release. "The decision to reschedule was reached after discussions between both participating institutions and the Southeastern Conference."

Today's SEC Network game on WCBI will now be Alabama against Auburn.

The weather caused early school releases and high school basketball postponements in Northeast Mississippi on Friday.

Arkansas' 67-62 homecourt win over Mississippi State on Thursday was played before an announced crowd of 4,113. Travel issues for the Razorbacks played a part in the decision to move today's game.

The move creates a doubleheader with the Ole Miss women's team taking on Florida at 2 p.m. Admission to the women's game is free, and tickets to the men's game are being sold for $5.

The presentation of the Cotton Bowl trophy, which had been scheduled for halftime of the men's game, has been cancelled.

However, fans with their own cameras are invited to take pictures with the Cotton Bowl trophy beginning at 1 p.m.

While the change could have a negative impact on attendance, it offers one more day of rest of Ole Miss forward Reginald Buckner, who sustained an ankle sprain late in the Rebels' 84-74 win at Auburn Thursday.

Tests showed no structural damage for Buckner, and his status is listed as day-to-day.
