Byrne, in his weekly blog, said a contract had been finalized this week, and the game will be played in Starkville on Sept. 1. MSU's 2012 non-conference schedule is now set, with other games scheduled against Troy (Sept. 8), Louisiana Tech (Sept. 15) and South Alabama (Sept. 22).
MSU beat Jackson State 45-7 to open the 2009 season. It marked the first meeting between the schools as well as the first football game between one of Mississippi's Division I schools and an in-state historically black college.
