Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker both issued statements before the vote.
"While we all agree that the quality of health care is important," Cochran said in an e-mailed statement, "questions arise as to how these standards will be developed, how they will ultimately be used by the federal government and the impact they will have on coverage and treatment options."
On his Web site earlier this week, Wicker said, "Higher taxes, more spending, and cuts to Medicare are not the reforms Americans want. This bill is a colossal mistake. It should be scrapped so that we can start over and get this right."

AARP brings in more $$$ from selling insurance to its members than it makes in dues. It is paid commissions for allowing its name to be used by the insurance companies.
AARP fingerprints are all over the bogus health care reform legislation and they stand to reap huge $$$ from its passage. Justs dirty business as usual in Washington.
The health care bill will not change Medicare except to root our the Hospitals and providers that are sucking billions off of the top every year in illegal practices.
In Mississippi's case the insurance companies spoke and our senators listened. Thankfully, it did insurance companies little good this time and now the question remains: why did our senators chose big insurance over the needs of Mississippi's citizens ? Why did neither of them offer a compromise ? Because they are bought and paid for by big business, insurance, and the evangelical cult of the Christian Church.
