TUPELO – Joyner Elementary principal Glenda Scott will be the interim principal at Tupelo High School. Lawndale Elementary Assistant Principal Jason Harris will be the interim principal at Joyner.

Scott will replace Mac Curlee, who will retire on Dec. 31. Scott is in her first year at Joyner, a kindergarten to second-grade school, after previously serving as principal at Rankin. Earlier this year, Rankin was named a national Blue Ribbon School for the 2008-09 school year, during which time Scott was the school’s principal.

Scott is also the wife of Lee County Superintendent Mike Scott.

Harris is in his fourth year at Lawndale. Prior to that he was an assistant principal at Columbus High School.

THS needs to take a step in some direction that is for sure. Amazing how badly things can change in 19 years. The school digresses from one of the top tiered schools in North Mississippi (both academically and athletically) to one where the administration should hand out flak jackets and Tazers to the students. God speed Mrs. Scott, you will need all of the help you can get.

Congrats to Ms Scott...She did a great job at Rankin and hopefully she can bring some of that spirit of accomplishment to THS. This is certainly a step in the right direction for THS.
