HATTIESBURG - With the fall semester final exams over, the Southern Miss football team returned to practice Friday afternoon in preparation for next Saturday's New Orleans Bowl game against Middle Tennessee.

Southern Miss worked for almost two hourson the game field at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium. It was the first practice for the team since last Sunday.

"We were a little rusty today," head coach Larry Fedora said of his team's first workout in five days. "It has been about two weeks since we have really gotten after it at practice, but that is what these first few days are for getting all of that out them."

The Golden Eagles' staff will begin installing its game plan on Monday.
