MEMPHIS — Former University of Alabama head coach Mike DuBose has been hired by the University of Memphis as a defensive line coach under new head coach Larry Porter.

DuBose, who coached the Crimson Tide from 1997 to 2000, announced his resignation as head coach of Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., on Thursday to take the position.

He led Alabama to a first-place finish in the Southeastern Conference's West Division in 1999, but was dismissed after a 3-8 season in 2000.

He joined Millsaps College as a defensive coordinator in 2005 and as head coach he led them to four straight first-place finishes in the Southern College Athletic Conference and two NCAA Division III playoff appearances.
