GRENADA — A preliminary hearing for the man accused of killing a minister and his caregiver will be Dec. 3 in Grenada County Justice Court.

Twenty-two-year-old John Wayne McChriston of Holcomb has been charged with two counts of capital murder.

Police say 69-year-old Rev. Jimmy Stauddy and 47-year-old Martha Stoker were stabbed to death at Stauddy's Holcomb home Nov. 15. Authorities have said McChriston had argued with them over $8 he needed to buy drugs.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports McChriston is being held in the Grenada County Jail without bond.

At a preliminary hearing, witnesses are called and evidence is presented to determine whether there is probable cause to believe that the accused committed the crime. If so, the case is bound over to a grand jury.

It wasn't immediately clear if McChriston has an attorney.
