Two members of the Ole Miss chapter of Phi Kappa Tau have been expeled by the fraternity for involvement in making a racially offensive video.

The Daily Mississippian campus newspaper first reported the decision and the University of Mississippi released a statement later confirming it.

"The board of governors of the University of Mississippi chapter of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity met Thursday night in Oxford and voted to expel two students who were involved in making a racially offensive video and posting it to YouTube," said Mitchell Diggs, Associate Director of Media and Public Relations at Ole Miss in an email to the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. "The matter has been handled solely by the organization's leaders."

Diggs added: "The university is investigating whether the UM Code of Conduct was violated in making and posting this video, which was pulled by YouTube for violating the site's terms of service."

Although the identities of the fraternity members have not been confirmed by Phi Kappa Tau or University of Mississippi Dean of Students Sparky Reardon, the suspension comes after a controversial home video featuring Phi Kappa Tau member Michael Houdec was published on YouTube this week, The Daily Mississippian reported.

The video reportedly takes place in the Grove and shows Houdec using profanity and racial slurs in response to a discussion surrounding Ole Miss students chanting "The South will rise again."
