Washington, DC – Congressman Travis Childers (MS-01) released the following statement regarding his upcoming vote on the House health care reform bill, H.R. 3962:

“Today, millions of hard-working Americans are suffering from soaring premiums that are increasing seven times faster than wages. Our country needs health care reform, and there is no one who wants to see the implementation of successful reform and lower premiums for individuals and families more than I do.

“However, for several reasons, I will vote ‘no’ on the House’s health care reform bill, H.R. 3962.

“First and foremost, I cannot vote for legislation with this big of a price tag in today’s economic climate. I would also like to see legislation that contains stronger language to prohibit federal funding for abortion and provides equal access to care for individuals in rural communities. My concerns in these areas have not been sufficiently addressed by this legislation.

“Health care reform legislation in the House has come incredibly far from where it was when we began this discussion. But we need to get this legislation right, not just get it fast.

“Potential reform is still a work in progress, and the House bill is only one of many steps that lie ahead before Congress votes on final legislation. The Senate has yet to act on its bill and we don’t know what the conference report – the final bill – will ultimately look like. It must be a commonsense plan that reflects Mississippi values.”

This Healthcare thing is so simple Ole," the Swede can understand it. All we need to do is put everybody on the same program as the congress folks have. Then count the money saved.

This health care situation is so simple Ole, "the Swede" can understand it. Just put everybody on the same healthcare program the congress folks have. Then count the money we would save, not the money it would cost.

what is it with you people? just because we don't want to expand the governments power doesn't mean we don't want reform. there a several ways to bring down costs without giving politicans more power over our lives. let people shop outside of their state for healthcare providers. competition will drive down cost for starters. how about before we give pelosi's house, reid's congress, and obama's white house control over health care the fix the crazy corruption with medicare. how many billions would that save us. name one govt run program that congress has it paws on that works. post office, amtrak, medicare, welfare, and social security all bleeding money. GOP or Dem, how could you trust any of those people with more power? Nancy Pelosi said that her plan would cost less that 900mil, report came out yesterday actually 1.2bil. are you really naive enough to believe the pols are going to save us money? you buy into the lefts propaganda to the point it's sickening. if obama came on tv and said the way to save the earth is to eat as many of your own boogers as possible, people like you would never go hungry.

Dear Congresman Childers,

Very well thought out statement we will watch what you do next.

Now on another topic here is a thought. I understand you are THINKING about siding with the cap and trade scheme of that prevaricator Al Gore and his religious followers in the leadership and at the U. N.. Please use better judgment or at least consult at least one wise man ie, lord Christopher Monckton, as the scripture tells us in PRO. 13: 20 He that walketh with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. I hope you are not offended by scripture, but better you, than my Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ. May His wisdom enlighten you and give you a reason to really serve the people in the most just way in regards to this issue. Thanks for the opportunity to give you this feedback to encourage you in your struggle with this bill. John Q. Blackford

PS. On me being human thats a good question why don't we as a government and a governed people stop asking racist questions on every government form. If we are all human and you intend to treat us all equally; what reason do you need to ask me a racist question like am I Black or Indian or White, human is what I am that is all you need to know to be fair to all legal citizens.

(Your site got me going on this question.)are you human?

Thanks, John Q. Blackford

Great day in the morning, 5960lady, your mentality is exactly the reason tripe like this healthcare "reform" is being bulldozed onto Americans. I see from your diatribe (if these words are too big, I can start using smaller ones) that you've never met a handout you didn't like and you haven't the slightest concept of how legislation like this is paid for. If you think this will not increase the deficit and will provide the miracle of free and abundant care that's being promoted, you're too far gone for my response to shake you back to reality. For starters, when they start raising the taxes they plan to raise to pay for this crap, who's going to be paying it? The rich, you say? And you don't have a problem with that, you say? Fine. But when the rich aren't able to hire as many more people to work in their businesses because of the increased tax burden they face, and when those people then don't have jobs to go to and therefore depend on the government for handouts (and can't afford low-cost insurance anyway), what's going to happen? I'll tell you what'll happen. The economic output and gross domestic product will not be enough to support this legislation, healthcare will begin to be restricted to reign in the costs (because tort reform is no part of this there will still be the problem of tests done just to save a doctor's hide should he or she dare to make a mistake and get sued for everything they own -- which, by the way drives up the cost of their malpractice insurance to more money than you and I make in a year, which drives up the cost of medical care and procedures . . . see a pattern developing here? And when care starts getting restricted, I guess all you "free-healthcare-massive-handout-lovin" liberals will have to go running to Canada for treatment. Which, should you care to explore things a little, you'd learn they've constantly struggled with the costs in Canada and are even now trying to figure out if privatizing some parts of their medical system will help alleviate the problems they've got.

Until some form of legislation is passed to address the real problems that have driven up the cost of healthcare in this country -- primarily tort reforms -- we will never have a system that sees cost decreases and savings. This isn't about insurance. This is, plain and simple, the democrats' attempt to empower themselves even more by beholding not just their traditional support base with government control of their lives, but all Americans. And God help us all if we go down that route. I like the country the way it was, not the way it's heading. If I wanted to live in France, I'd move to France. I'd prefer that not be what our country becomes, you people who go gaga over the belief that government is the end-all, be-all and savior of all will not stop until you've destroyed what was -- and still could be -- the greatest civilization in this world's history.

I didn't know I voted for a Republican.

What a disappointment Childers has turned out to be. Here he has a chance to make a real difference in people's lives and he squanders it to woo republicans.

Well I hope for his sake it works because I won't be voting for him again.

I expected no less from a repubcrate like you, this healthcare reform would help the people of our state, people that lost their insurance would be able to get low cost insurance and it woild expand medicaid for more people to be able to qualify that don't now. medacare would be expaned to cover more treatment and senors would be able to get a yearly check up at no cost to them, the money the republicans are talking about the money thats going right to the insurance companys fpr supplying a suppment for some people that can affprd to have a golden insurance the poor suffer so the rich can have these plans.if you have a prexisting conditions will be ablel to get insurance where they can not now do or they have a premium that is so high that they just can't pay the premium, the insurance companys can leave these people out anymore.

The house bill is paid for it will not put one dime on the deficit, and will bring it down over the next five years.

This healthcare bill is good for all americans people will be able to go to a dr. instead of the er there is a savings right there.there is a lot more thats benafits us, go on line or watch c-span.and find out for your self, mr. childerns you will not get a large familey vote next time around you can join the republican pary.
