Board chooses Burnham as state superintendent of education

JACKSON – The state Board of Education voted unanimously today to bring back Dr. Tom Burnham as state superintendent of education.

Burnham currently is dean of the School of Education at the University of Mississippi.

The board reportedly interviewed four candidates for the position. The previous superintendent, Hank Bounds, took over as leader of the state's higher education system in July.
