JACKSON — Health officials say swine flu vaccine will be available today at all Mississippi's county health clinics and in some schools.

But the supplies will be limited and officials hope certain groups will get priority — pregnant women, children age 6 months to 4 years, and infant caregivers.

The state has been shipped 223,800 doses of the vaccine. More is expected in coming weeks.

Mississippi has had nine confirmed deaths from H1N1.

But officials say the figure could be as high as 15 because some patients who died from the flu weren't tested for H1N1.

The state Department of Health has confirmed at least 1,200 cases.

That is interesting because my OBGYN's office doesn't have any clue when theirs will be in (I am 24 weeks pg with asthma) and my children's pediatrician (I have a soon to be two-year-old and soon to be four-year-old) do not have it yet either. Last time I took my children to the health department I had to wait half a day, pay (they don't accept my insurance) for the regular flu shot and my kids came down with a cold about two days later from hanging out with all the other kids in the waiting room, some of whom were obviously sick, for so long. I hope they distribute it to pediatricians and OBGYN's before they pass it out at schools as younger children are more at risk and not advised to take Tamiflu if they do contract it. I am not terribly worried about swine flu, but I am not afraid of the vaccine either. With two small kids and a baby due in peak flu season, I really don't want to take any chances.
