The Commercial Appeal reported that the cameras will cover the kennel and general areas and access to the footage will be made available on the city's Web site.
The facility was searched by Shelby County deputies on Tuesday after a tipster complained to the local prosecutor's office. Deputies found some animals were sick or had been deprived of food and water.
Wharton assigned a task force of citizens, area veterinarians and other animal specialists to examine the facility's operations.
