But Nunnelee says his edge is in Mississippi donors.
Federal Election Commission third-quarter reports show Childers with $507,220 cash on hand, compared to Nunnelee’s $181,163.
Nunnelee, who announced in July he would run for Congress, raised $220,454 in the July-September reporting period while Childers collected $274,464.
“We’re happy where we are,” said Childers aide Brad Morris about their financial report.
Morgan Baldwin, a Nunnelee spokesman, said 96 percent of his candidate’s contributions came from Mississippi citizens.
Even though the race is nearly a year away, it’s again taken on a national profile as a seat Republicans hope they can reclaim from Democrats.
In 2008, Democrat Childers won the seat over Greg Davis, Southaven’s Republican mayor, with millions poured in from their national parties after GOP Rep. Roger Wicker of Tupelo was appointed to the U.S. Senate.
Nunnelee’s third quarter report shows contributions from 177 individuals and seven political action committees.
Childers’ report compares with contributions from 118 individuals and 102 PACS. He still owes himself $100,000 loaned to his 2008 campaign.
Individual contributors can give up to $2,400 per election, which means a donor can give $2,400 for a primary election and another $2,400 for the general election. PAC donations are limited to $5,000 per year.
No FEC report was filed by Henry Ross of Eupora, who also has voiced an interest in making the race. March 1 is the qualifying deadline.

I have checked it out. His base salary for 3 months of work is $10,000. If welfare checks in MS pay $10k every 3 months, I'm gonna quit my job and go on welfare. Additionally, that figure doesn't include expenses. The lowest paid rep in MS took home over $21,000 last year. Pretty good for a 3 month job ...
I do not think you know how much Nennellee is paid as a legislature. It is less than most welfare checks. Check it out BUBBA.
I am not blind because I know what has happened with Childers in Washington.
Just check his voting record. He claims to be a blue dog democrat, that means yep yep yep to Pelosi and Franks and growl-growl TO HIS 1ST DISTRICT VOTERS.
We will FIRE CHILDERS NEXT YEAR. I will bet a steak dinner on that!!!
It is a fact most conservatives think Nunnellee could do more good in washington than as governor. I am in that group and I plan to raid my piggy bank for Nunnellee. We need a representative that is not in Pelosi and the trial lawyers pockets.
Your mis-information will not keep the folks from voting for Nunnellee.
Mr. Childers voted to keep Charlie Rangle in his powerful chairmanship, eventhough he failed to pay his taxes on over 1/2 million dollars. At least Nunnelle will not support criminals.
Childers helped Obama create a 1.4 billion dollar deficit in less than a year. He has been a party to killing more jobs in America than any time in our history.
If Nunnellee duplicates Childers policy in Washington, then I will oppose Nunnelle in the next election.
Childers recieved over $290,000.00 from Pelosi and Barney in his last campoaign. Who do you suppose has his loyality.
I can tell you it is not the voters of mississippi. He did not even have the guts to talk to us during his costly vacation paid for by the voters.
NO MORE OBAMINATION FOR AMERICA
GO GREEN
RECYCLE CONGRESS.
