After a scoreless first quarter, Corinth (2-2) put up nine points in the second on a safety and a 1-yard run by Parks Frazier. Jordan Parker’s PAT made it 9-0 at the break.
Parker added a 24-yard field goal in the third quarter, but it remained less than a two-touchdown lead.
Diante Curlee sealed the deal, however, grabbing a pass deep in the end zone and taking it the other way.
- New Albany 35, Independence 0: Kareem Brown ran for 188 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (3-2). Brown scored on runs of 4 and 33 yards and also scored on a 25-yard pass play. Eric Johnson and Tyler Basil also had rushing touchdowns for New Albany.
- Belmont 45, South Pontotoc 7: At Belmont, the Cards improved to 4-0 and celebrated homecoming led by Gage Smith with 118 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Belmont led 25-0 at halftime and blew it open with a 20-0 third quarter. Dustin Poole scored on runs of 4, 40 and 26 yards for Belmont. Kase Smith and Jordan Powell also scored touchdowns for the winners.
South Pontotoc (2-3) got on the board with a 52-yard run by Deonte Dillworth in the fourth quarter.
- Lafayette County 42, Center Hill 0: Jeremy Liggins scored on runs of 5 and 50 yards and connected with Jarius Baker for a 38-yard touchdown for the game’s first points as the Commodores (4-1) bounced back from last week’s defeat at IAHS.
- Mooreville 24, Alcorn Central 12: The visiting Troopers (4-1) took command of a 7-6 game with two touchdowns in the third quarter. Griff Loftis scored on a 1-yard run and Gary Johnson on a 5-yard run in the third quarter.
- North Pontotoc 16, Water Valley 14: The visiting Vikings improved to 5-0, getting the decisive points on a safety when Water Valley was called for intentional grounding in the end zone with 9 minutes, 36 seconds remaining.
Water Valley (2-2) led 14-7 at halftime on the strength of two touchdown runs by D.C. Logan.
The Vikings tied the game in the third quarter on a 5-yard run by Myles Snyder. North Pontotoc got on the board in the first quarter on a 10-yard interception return by D.J. Mayfield.
- East Webster 22, Bruce 12: The Wolverines (3-2) scored 16 points in the fourth quarter on a safety, a blocked punt and a 100-yard interception return. Bruce (0-4) led 12-6 going into the fourth quarter, getting two TD passes from Reed Gregory. The first covered 30 yards to Demeritus Evans, the second 22 yards to Ted Esom.
- Eupora 26, Calhoun City 12: Visiting Eupora (5-0) opened up a 19-6 halftime lead, as Tey McCarthy tossed touchdown passes to Steadman Rice covering 22 and 27 yards. Eupora also scored in the second quarter on a 98-yard punt return by Demarcus Pass.
J.R. Jennings led Calhoun City with two touchdown passes.
