UPDATE: Pontotoc County jail escapees found in Lee County

Two men who escaped from the Pontotoc County Detention Center have been found in Lee County.

The men were taken into custody taken into custody before 6:30 pm in the Shannon area, Pontotoc Sheriff Neal Davis told WTVA.com.

The prisoners slipped from under the fence wile exercising in the yard at the Pontotoc County Detention Center Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Tommy Luttrell said Joseph Ray Welch, Jr., 19, and Manuel Perales Ybarra, 55 were not among the inmates who came back into the jail. He belives they escaped at approximately 4:45 p.m. Ybarra has been in the jail for approximately a month and Welch has been incarcerated for two weeks. Both were behind bars on burglarly charges.
