TUPELO – An early morning shooting on Ida Street has left one man in critical condition.

Capt. Bart Aguirre of the Tupelo Police Department said police were dispatched to an apartment at 1513 Ida Street at about 2:15 a.m. Monday. The person who rented an apartment there told police a man was breaking into his house and he shot the intruder, Aguirre said.

The intruder, whose name has not been released, was treated at the scene and was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center, where he is now listed in critical but stable condition.

The shooting is still under investigation.

More as it becomes available.

I am a little annoyed that this "news" site chose to portray this incident of a VICTIM shooting the Criminal as a CRIME.

The headline and the police tape 'crime' logo/image seem to imply this shooting was a crime.

It is not. (as of now with the information posted)

The Victim here is the resident who was put in fear and danger by a criminal trying to break into his home.

The Criminal perpetrator ended up in the hospital... GOOD! He deserved it.

People should stand up for themselves like this person did! and News medial/"journalists" should STOP portraying them as somehow evil.
