OXFORD – Christi R. McCoy's nomination to be Northern District U.S. Attorney is on track, despite chatter on a Jackson-based political Internet site today, say people very close to the process.

McCoy, who was out of town, declined to comment. But others say rumors are quite untrue that her nomination to the post has "hit a snag."

One source, especially close to the situation, said stories like this are being fed by people who'd rather not see the defense attorney and Booneville native succeed Republican Jim Greenlee.

President Obama will submit to the U.S. Senate his nominations for this and other U.S. Attorney posts around the country. The Senate must give its approval on each.
