TUPELO – Sen. Roger Wicker had one message for members of the American Legion on Saturday – keep up the good work.

More than 200 delegates from American Legion posts all over the state attended the Annual American Legion Department of Mississippi State Convention held at the Summit Center. Wicker was the keynote speaker, along with Congressman Travis Childers.

Wicker, a third-generation American Legion member, expressed his gratitude for the job the legion does throughout the state.

“It is important for the legion to continue its good work,” said Wicker. “I am myself a proud legion member. I’m proud to say that because the legion means so much to all our communities.”

Charles Langley, of Wesson, is the executive committee representative for the legion.

Said Langley, “It’s good for all the posts to come together for the annual convention to discuss how the year went and to fellowship with other members throughout the state.”

Even though he was there to talk about the legion and to commend them for their service, Wicker did delve into some foreign policy issues as well. He discussed the dangers posed by countries like North Korea, Russia and Afghanistan.

He also took a minute to talk about the ongoing health care debate.

“The newly proposed health care scheme doesn’t look to be saving money for people like it was first proposed by President Obama,” said Wicker. “The deficit will be at $1.8 trillion dollars by the end of the year. The new health care plan will add another trillion to that. I’m all for a national health care plan that will save money, not one that will increase the deficit.”

The convection wraps up today.

Senator Wicker being critical of President Obama's proposed health care plan??....hmmmm.

I suppose that he offered up in detail, a plan of his own?....NO! And don't count on one anytime.....EVER!

It would have been a perfect opportunity for him to explain the health care plan that is provided for himself and the rest of the legislature.

So far the marginilized Repubs have done lil more than place a hungover looking (yes, redfaced & big red nose included)House Repub Leader John Boehner (R-OH)in front of a camera once a day to ridicule every Democrat proposal and offering very little to improve upon except the hopes that absolutely nothing gets done and that the American people and the U.S. economy suffer just a lil longer so that they can say"duh huh huh huh, if you all had elected a Repub, we wouldnt be in this mess....duh huh huh".

With the current coup of Repub leadership such as Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich and so on and so on (you get the picture) one would think that they would be full of POSITVE (ha ha), PROGRESSIVE (ha ha) and INGENIUS (ha ha) ideas.....so far it's the same ole same ole whining, crying, fingerpointing, back biting, stale, out-of-touch, politics of the past ideas.

By the way NEMS360.COM.....WHERE'S THE SCOOP AND COMMENTS MADE BY U.S. REP TRAVIS CHILDERS (D-MS)?? HUH?

ROGER WICKER HAS NOOO PROBLEM WITH THE UNGODLY DEFICITS CREATED BY UNDECLARED WARS. BUSH'S IRAQ WAR FOR EXAMPLE.

HE ALSO HAS NOOO PROBLEM WITH GOVERNMENT SPENDING WHEN IT HAPPENS TO BE EARMARK FUNDS HANDED OUT BY THE SENATOR WITH THE EXPECTATION OF A NICE DONATION TO HIS CAMPAIGN COFFERS IN RETURN.

WHEN IT COMES TO AMERICANS IN NEED OF HEALTH CARE THAT'S ANOTHER MATTER.
