Gov. Haley Barbour is calling the House and Senate back for a special session starting at 10 a.m. Friday. He wants them to set spending plans for the Public Service Commission and the related Public Utilities Staff.
Mississippi's budget year started July 1, and the two agencies were the only parts of state government left unfunded. The agencies' budgets died during a dispute over the commission's request to hire additional employees.
House Democrats supported the request, while Barbour and Senate Republicans opposed it.
