Company creators and founders Beckey Neal and her daughter, Kim Neal, have opened a new company that produces the popular hand-poured pillar candles in a small facility a few miles from the company's old location in Mantachie.
Officially, the company is called Design Wicks, a division of Wicks n' More. A small retail store is attached to the facility, which is located next to Mooreville Rental on Highway 371.
In an e-mail to the Daily Journal, Beckey Neal wrote "Yes, Wicks n' More is back again ... after the company decided to dissolve its operations in Mantachie, my daughter Kim and I (the original creators and founders) made a decision to continue our candlemaking on a smaller scale."
The Neals founded the company in 1999. The company was sold to a Houston, Texas-based investment group in 2006. It announced the liquidation in October, blaming fewer retailers, rising fuel costs and increased raw materials prices for the move.
Beckey Neal said her company has finalized the purchase of all of Wicks n' More's remaining assets and "we are continuing both retail and wholesale operations" under her and her daughter's leadership.

My name is Tracey, and I am plant manager of Wicks n' More/Designer Wicks in Mooreville. After finding this post online, I wanted to address some of the questions and concerns.
1ElvisFan - The candles that are 75% off at Village Green are closeout candles (factory seconds), so they are probably discolored, dark colors, etc. I am sure they still smell great, but there is some issue with each candle that would allow us to sell it at such a large discount. I can assure you that our first quality candles look much better. I invite you to stop by our factory in Mooreville for a free candle, and so that you can see them for yourself.
candlelover - You asked some very valid questions. The founders have had much personal tragedy in their lives in the past couple of years. Beckey's husband Wayne lost the battle that he had been fighting with cancer. Three month's prior to his death, Kim (Beckey's daughter & co-founder) lost her 2 month old infant son, Dillon. The past year has been a period of recovery for both of them as they have endeavored to move forward. That is part of the reason that they did not step back in when the investors ran the company that they founded and loved into the ground. As for the former employees that lost their jobs, we have already been able to re-employ 10 of them, and hope to bring back the rest as we grow. We know that these loyal employees are key to our company's success, and are grateful to them for sticking with us through the bad and the good.
As for the votive issue, this is not something that we were aware of, but since reading this, our quality control department is testing them now to ensure that everything is correct. I would like to invite you all to stop by our factory for a free votive so you can burn one yourself. I assure you that if there was any issue with the flame getting too hot (incorrect wick size, etc., it will be resolved immediately. Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention. Our address is 558 Hwy. 371, Mooreville. We moved a few miles down the road from our previous location.
Thank you,
Tracey Powers

I personally prefer Cotton Creek's candles out of Marietta!
Maybe in the next article these questions will be asked as well
I guess their fans should enjoy it while it lasts.
But again, it's more fun and so easy to just make them yourself! See my links below....
And something else I don't understand is that it hasn't been that long ago when Becky Neal announced the company was closing due to the poor economy and rising cost. What has changed so drasticlly in the past several months that has made the economy so much better?
You know all those candles can be easily made, just check out this link. Also just search for mottling wax if you want that “look”.
Its always better to do it yourself and way more fun!!!
