High school students from Itawamba Community College's five-county district are invited to participate in Career U, scheduled for June 16-18, at the Fulton campus.

Students entering the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades this fall in high schools in Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc may attend this free three-day, two night residential camp.

The camp is targeted at increasing the number of students majoring in specific allied health and technical programs, according to Career U coordinator Dr. Bronson Prochaska, director of student development at ICC.

Female participants will get an overview of five predominantly male populated technical programs including drafting and design technology, electrical technology, forestry technology, local area networking and computer servicing technology and tool and die technology, Prochaska said. Male participants will discover more about five predominantly female populated allied health and technical programs including early childhood education technology, nursing, occupational therapy assistant technology, physical therapy assistant technology and surgical technology.

Registration is limited to 40 participants. The application deadline is June 1.

For an application or more information, contact Prochaska at 662-862-8250 or e-mail bgprochaska@iccms.edu.
