Faye Hollingsworth and Vickie Crider have been chosen as co-winners of the 2009 Spirit of Service award by the Pilot Club of Fulton.

A banquet in their honor is scheduled for April 30 at the Trinity Baptist Church fellowship hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Both ladies were nominated because of their roles in all aspects of service in the community. Both exhibit a friendly, caring spirit to their family, church and community.

Hollingsworth is retired from Tremont School where she taught special education. She is a "Jack of all trades." She has been pianist at First Baptist Church in Fulton for 25 years. She is also the director of the Women's Ministry. Church members look forward to the delicious meals she prepares on Wednesday nights. She has taught Bible studies and is involved in most events at the church.

She is married to Rex Hollingsworth. They have three daughters and one grandson.

Crider is a true friend to everyone. She is a member of Trinity Baptist Church and teaches in the Awana program. She is vacation Bible school director and PTO president. She was chosen "Parent of the Year" because of her volunteer work in the school system.

She is married to Paul Crider, and they have seven children.

The recipient of the Spirit of Service award is open to nominations by any Itawamba County resident. The winner is chosen by a panel of judges using information from candidates' nomination forms. Nominees receive scores in six different categories: elderly, youth, church, community work, family and profession.

A spokesman for the panel said, "Scoring is difficult. Everyone nominated deserves the award."

Each judge is informed about scoring and scores each nominee in each category. Then scores for all judges are tallied and the winner is declared.

All friends, co-workers and relatives of Hollingsworth and Crider are invited to attend the banquet in their honor. The cost per meal is $10.

Please call Willie Gregory at 862-3904 or Barbara Sullivan at 862-3736 to make reservations since there must be a count of number attending.

People planning to attend may reserve a place and then pay at the door. The Pilot Club of Fulton is honored to host this annual award banquet.
